Jaroslav Zeman studied in Prague and conducted a number of the best military orchestras in what was then Czechoslovakia. Most recently he was director of the military music conservatory in Raudnitz an der Elbe. Jaroslav Zeman is now retired and has since then turned increasingly to composition and arrangement. Internationally, he is appreciated as a representative of "Bohemian music" and with numerous polkas, waltzes and marches has contributed to the substantial expansion of this special repertoire. His "Jäger-Polka" lies exactly on this line and reveals why this music is still popular and in demand today.
