Original works for viola by Russian composers around the turn of the century are a true rarity. For this reason, this volume also includes works for which the authors have allowed two different possibilities for performance - either with viola or violoncello (the respective parts are enclosed). These lyrical pieces by Petersburg composers from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's circle are suitable for both concert programmes and instrumental lessons.
