From Pop to Soul, Funk, Country, Jazz, Rock ’n’ Roll and Hard Rock, the 70s was a highly diverse and innovative decade.

When The Beatles split-up, the void they left behind didn’t last long... a new band emerged, suddenly becoming world famous by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, and dominated the pop scene for the rest of the decade... ABBA!

The rock movement in Great Britain in the 70s exploded with The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Queen, while in America, The Eagles, The Carpenters and The Jackson Five were real audience favourites.

While Elton John was the best selling solo pop artist in Europe, David Bowie was breaking new ground with his androgynous alien persona Ziggy Stardust.

New artists like Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Barbra Streisand and Billy Joel were thrilling audiences in the USA, however in 1977, an wonderful era came to an end with the death of Elvis Presley. In the same year The Bee Gees made a great come-back with the soundtrack for “Saturday Night Fever” and Fleetwood Mac quickly enjoyed great fame and success.
