Christmas cantata - Sheet music & piano scores

The fact that the boundary between cantata and oratorio is often unclear is shown by the best-known example by far, the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach, which is a series of six cantatas that tell the Christmas story in a continuous sequence.

Bach was not the only one who wrote Christmas cantatas. There are wonderful works by numerous composers of all times, some of which emphasise the intimate character of Christmas, others which are festively played with kettledrums and trumpets. Browse through our section, it’s worth it!
