Sheet Music for children’s and youth choir

The secular children’s choir has its roots in the 19th century and developed from the effort to bring music to schools.

The boys’ choir, however, has its beginnings in the Middle Ages. Boys and castrated men were used especially in churches, where female singing was prohibited until the 19th century. The boys’ choirs existing today are traditionally associated with church music.

Children’s choirs are also an important part at th opera. Most opera houses have their own children’s choir, which is used in operas such as Hansel and Gretel, Carmen or Tosca.
