"Trumpeter's Lullaby" has belonged to the entertaining standard repertoire of many trumpet soloists since its creation in 1950.
Leroy Anderson composed the title at the suggestion of Roger Voisin, the first trumpeter of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He wanted a solo that would differ from the loud, triumphant sound of most trumpet solos. Thus the idea for this "lullaby" was born, which is now available in an arrangement for trumpet and concert band.
